Pellegrini rubbishes Aguero to Barcelona reports

The Argentina international has been linked with a move to Camp Nou, but his Manchester City manager has dismissed the rumours and says the 25-year-old is staying at the Etihad.
Manuel Pellegrini has dismissed reports that Sergio Aguero could leave Manchester City for Barcelona in the summer.

Despite an injury-hit season restricting him to just 17 Premier League starts, Aguero has still struck 15 goals, fuelling rumours of a move to the Catalan outfit.
With speculation mounting ahead of the summer transfer window, Pellegrini moved to quell talk of a Barcelona bid for the 25-year-old, and insists that Aguero is happy at the Etihad Stadium.
“[My response] is exactly the same as what I respond to all the other links during the whole year,” Pellegrini told reporters.
“You cannot talk every week about players that are coming here and the players going out. Aguero is a Manchester City player, he is very happy here and the club is very happy with him.”
Pellegrini also confirmed that Aguero is set to miss the Manchester derby on March 25, stating: “At the end of next week he will start training with the rest of the squad.”
Manchester City were recently knocked out of the Champions League round-of-16 by Barcelona, withPellegrini receiving a two–game touchline suspension by Uefa for criticising referee Jonas Eriksson following his side’s 2-0 first-leg defeat to Barca.
Los Blaugranas were drawn against Primera Division rivals Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Friday morning.

"But we can't keep doing that. Kevin McHattie and Jamie Walker are on five bookings, Scott Robinson is suspended for Motherwell.
"We are getting to the stage where it's going to become very difficult to field a credible team."
Partick Thistle striker Lyle Taylor: "The manager has told me that my job is to hold the ball up and put it in the net.
"The way I see it, that is any centre forward's job, it is not a new role, it is nothing that I am not used to. I want to score goals, that is my job.
"There are a lot of opportunities being created, we just haven't been able to put the ball in the net enough times to pick up more points.

"I have been given the opportunity and I want repay the faith shown in me by the manager and put the ball in the net.
"We made a few chances against Celtic but if we play like that against lesser teams we will make more chances.

Big difference in quality. Even Ajax without their main players should win this with big numbers. They play at home. Ajax at home normally beats every dutch opponent without troubles except for Feyenoord, PSV and Twente maybe. RKC is the weakest team in this league, i'm sure of that and going against them once again.

Ajax played midweek against Celtic away. Suffered a loss which was very undeserved. There was only one team that deserved to win and it was Ajax. Celtic just had two luck goals. For Ajax it's the task to get back on track in the national league. Waalwijk is the opponent and everyone offcourse expects Ajax to win, me too. De Boer is not a coach who lets his players underestimate any opponent, also not Waalwijk. Ajax probably want to take revenge for the undeserved loss in Scotland. They normally win a home. They will still be without some players, but they have been without them for weeks now. Krkic, de Sa, Duarte and Moisander are still out. Cilessen is ready to play.

Waalwijk is a very weak team. They only have 5 points so far from which 4 came from first two games. After that they totally collapsed and only got one point more. As I said last week or so, they are relegation candidate nr. 1 for me and they won't have a chance imo at Ajax. Cannot say too much about this team. They have a very weak defence and offence. They have some good midfielders but that only won't bring them points. Duits is back from suspension. Mosseveldt is newly suspended. Ivens is doubtfull as he broke his nose but they wont take risks with him. Najah still out just as Rommedahl and Lieder. Beauguel also is available, he had some troubles and if Ivens will not play he will probably replace him.
All in all with absences counted in Ajax has much better team and at home should crush RKC with a big score. RKC is just too weak. Ajax wants to get back on track after the CL loss and keep on track for the 1st place.

Moses backing from Rodgers

The 24-year-old made a deadline-day switch from Chelsea to spend the season at Anfield and add to Rodgers' growing attacking options.

"In terms of this summer, it was probably unexpected for him," the Reds boss said. "He's a player that has got experience - he's 24 years of age and became available for us.

"It's a unique opportunity for him; he's leaving a very good club, that has been successful, and he's coming to one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"There are not many players that get a chance to do that. He's coming here to prove himself." While the deal was done late, it was no snap decision by Rodgers as he had banked plenty of information about the player over the last few years.

"I know he will work well because he's a good guy; I met him when he was 16 and nearly signed him at Chelsea then," said the Northern Irishman, referring to his time as youth coach at Stamford Bridge.

"He came to us to train while he was a young player at Crystal Palace. "Everything was set up for him to come to Chelsea at the time and for whatever reason it fell through and he stayed.

"I know what I'm getting. He's got the profile that suits our game in terms of his technique, his quality and he's a humble guy.

"He had some good performances for Nigeria when he was away (in the last fortnight) and he really looking forward to getting in a Liverpool shirt.

"Like a lot of our attacking players, they are flexible, have good tactical intelligence and are comfortable to play in two or three positions.

"When he was a young player, he was the number nine so he can play in the central striking role or can move. In any one of those top four positions, he's comfortable.

"We've seen him a lot playing from the left side, where he cuts in - he's got great feet, great ability, can shoot off either foot and can beat a man, which is important for us.

" Moses is set to make his debut for his new club at Swansea tonight as Liverpool look to make it four successive league wins at the start of a season - something they have not done since 1990-91 and only achieved twice (1969-70, 1978-79) before that since returning to the top flight in 1962. Preview and prediction for soccer game between Ajax Amsterdam vs Roda JC Kerkrade for Dutch Eredivisie on Friday August 2, 2013 (8/2/2013)

AFC Ajax

Ajax go into this home game with the success of the Johan Cryff Cup win over AZ Alkmaar fresh in their memory. Frank de Boer has 3 titles under his belt with his coaching time at Ajax and you would be a brave person if you didn’t think he could do it again this season.

AFC Ajax are now in domestic ascendancy, there has been some blood letting over the recent seasons, gone are the big spending on foreign players in the transfer market, going back to a 4-3-3 formation, no mass exodus of star players.

The only blemish is the loss of Derk Boerrigter to Celtic for €2.1M, and a possibly imminent move for Danish International Eriksen to either Liverpool or Borussia Dortmund.

De Boer has said he wants him to stay, but indicated he would not stop him from taking up the next step in his footballing career.
Ajax have picked up a great defensive signing in Holland under 21 van der Hoorn from Utrecht for € 3.8M, and 22 year old loanee striker Bojan from Barcelona.
Roda JC Kerkrade

Roda JC had a horrendous last season, but scrapped through the relegation playoffs to survive the drop and stay in the Eredivisie for another season.

In the transfer market they have been rather quiet, but there is a fresh look about them as they offloaded some of the squad for free, the exception being Syrian Sanharib Malki to Turkish side Kasımpaşa for € 1.5M.

The money (to date)has not been spent on new players as all recruits are on loan or have been a free transfer.

Roda’s pre-season form has been patchy, losing to some unspectacular opposition, but they did manage to capture the scalp of Schalke 04 reserves in a 3-2 win on the 13th July.
