Stoke boss Mark Hughes is without Glenn Whelan and Marc Wilson after they were both sent off against Newcastle.
Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is out for up to six weeks after breaking a finger.
With fixtures coming thick and fast over the holiday period it's the time of year when there have to be compromises in the official matchday programmes. At least one article purportedly from the manager or captain has to start with the words "printing deadlines mean I am writing this before our Christmas action gets underway."
Imagine the scene in the office at Tottenham, as staff earlier this month debated what articles they could commission for the home games against West Bromwich Albion and Stoke.
Ideas are flowing as to how they can fill two magazines, and I can exclusively reveal a few of the features planned back in early December for the Stoke issue, the last of 2013:
An in-depth interview with head coach Andre Villas-Boas, looking at the season so far, but printing deadlines mean it can only take in the campaign up to the Liverpool match.
The "Where Are They Now?" feature focusing on Emmanuel Adebayor, who hasn't been seen in a Spurs shirt for a while.
A behind-the-scenes piece with Tim Sherwood, as he outlines his plans for 2014 in his role as technical co-ordinator.
Obviously all these ideas had to be binned, but as you read the matchday programme this weekend spare a thought for the people who put them together. At least Tottenham have had time to change their plans for the content after an eventful month at White Hart Lane.
If you're thinking this hasn't got a great deal to do with the usual BBC-type preview of Tottenham against Stoke then you're right. But "family commitments and deadlines mean I am writing this before the Christmas action gets underway."

Head-to-head
Tottenham have only lost two of their last 38 home league meetings with Stoke City (W28, D8, L2).
The Potters have won just three of their 10 previous Premier League meetings with Spurs.

Tottenham
Tottenham's league record at White Hart Lane this season is the worst among sides in the top half of the table. They have won just three of their nine matches and scored only eight goals.
They have only managed to score more than one goal in two of their last 11 home games in the Premier League.
After seven clean sheets in their opening 10 league matches, they have not kept one in any of their last eight.
This game will take place exactly six years after Tottenham beat Reading 6-4, one of only six Premier League games to see 10 or more goals.

Stoke
Their defeat by Newcastle was only their second in nine league matches.
They have conceded 15 goals in their last five away matches.
Stoke have played 29 Premier League games in London and have scored more than once in only two of them (17 goals in total).

Leeds defender Danny Pugh (knock) is doubtful for the derby clash with Yorkshire rivals Barnsley and could have a late fitness test.Defenders Scott Wootton (ankle), and Adam Drury and winger Dominic Poleon are all back in contention.Barnsley boss Danny Wilson could welcome back Chris O'Grady (calf) for his first game since returning to take charge of the club for a second time.
Winger Paddy McCourt (hamstring) is a doubt, so Jim O'Brien is on stand-by....Leeds have a doubt over Danny Pugh ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet Championship clash with Barnsley at Elland Road.
Pugh has started the last six matches for Brian McDermott's side, but is struggling with a knock and could have a late fitness test.
Centre-half Scott Wootton, yet to appear since early November after recovering from an ankle injury, is in contention after completing 90 minutes for the development squad, while fellow defender Adam Drury and winger Dominic Poleon played in the same match.
Noel Hunt is closing in on a return following a hamstring injury, but although fellow striker El-Hadji Diouf returned to training this week after returning from Africa, the Senegal international is unlikely to feature.
Barnsley boss Danny Wilson, meanwhile, could be boosted by the surprise return of striker Chris O'Grady for his first game since returning to take charge of the club for a second time this week.
O'Grady has missed the last five games due to a calf strain, but returned to training this week and Wilson will assess the seven-goal forward on the day.
Winger Paddy McCourt is doubtful after being forced out of last week's home draw with Yeovil due to a hamstring injury, so Jim O'Brien is on stand-by.
Goalkeeper Luke Steele remains sidelined with the back problem that has kept him out since September.

Head To Head
Barnsley have won on only one of their last seven visits to Elland Road, a 2-1 win in November 2011.
Both meetings last season ended in home wins - Leeds won 1-0 at Elland Road thanks to a Luciano Becchio penalty. Barnsley won 2-0 at Oakwell.
There has not been a goalless draw between these teams since April 1983, encompassing the last 27 meetings.

Leeds United
Leeds have won five of their last six matches at Elland Road - their draw against Watford in their last home game ended a run of five consecutive home victories.
They have scored in 10 of their 11 home matches played in all competitions - on the only occasion they failed to score they lost 1-0 to QPR, one of only two home defeats this season.
Leeds have scored 19 home goals in the Championship so far this season. Only Derby have registered more home goals in the division.

Barnsley
Barnsley have collected just four points from 30 available away from home so far this season. Their only away win was a 2-1 win at Brighton under caretaker Micky Mellon, who was replaced by Danny Wilson as permanent manager on Tuesday.
They have lost eight of their 10 Championship matches away from Oakwell this season.
Barnsley's total of four points on the road this season is the lowest away points total in the whole of the Premier and Football League.
