Meulensteen's assessment that Tuesday night's FA Cup replay defeat by League One Sheffield United meant Fulham had "hit rock bottom" might not be correct - they could take more crushing blows yet. The Cottagers have lost each of their last 11 games away to Manchester United, and this one is followed by Liverpool at home on Wednesday.

Manchester United have won their last 11 league and cup games against Fulham at Old Trafford, scoring 30 goals.
Fulham have avoided defeat at United only once in 51 years - a 3-1 Premier League victory in October 2003, when Lee Clark, Steed Malbranque and Junichi Inamoto scored for the visitors.

Birmingham manager Lee Clark told BBC WM:
"It's as big as game as any game we've had, if not bigger.
"There are financial implications that are crucial to our club, with the chance of a home tie against a Premier League club in the next round.
"We don't want to be one of those involved in a shock result. We'll be fielding a very, very strong side and changes will be to a very bare minimum."
Bristol Rovers manager John Ward told BBC Radio Bristol:
"I expect us to do well. I expect us to be ready and up for the game because it is our biggest game.
"We have done well in the last couple of games, we have scored four goals, so there is a confidence factor about that, particularly getting the winner as late as we did on Saturday. It stands us in good stead.
"I want my players to have a go - if we win it is fantastic, but if we get beat, there is a bit of glory still to be had, and we will move on to York City."

This game will finally take place after Bristol Rovers won 2-1 against Crawley in their FA Cup second round replay on Wednesday, 8 January. It was the third time the replay was arranged to be played, after being abandoned in December and postponed on 4 January because of a waterlogged pitch.
This is the first ever meeting between these sides in the FA Cup.
Birmingham are unbeaten in the last 11 meetings in all competitions, winning the last three.
Birmingham have finished as runners-up twice in this competition - in 1931 and 1956. Bristol Rovers have gone as far as the quarter-finals on three occasions - most recently in 2008.

Schalke will look to inflict a third consecutive Ruhr derby defeat on Borussia Dortmund when they host their local rivals on Saturday.
Jens Keller's men welcome BVB to the Veltins Arena knowing victory could see them move into the top four as they look to recover from a difficult start to the campaign.
And the hosts should take confidence from their performances last season, when they took maximum points from both their encounters with Jurgen Klopp's charges.
However, Schalke were beaten 3-0 by Chelsea in the Champions League in midweek and go into the game with a number of injury concerns.
Attacking midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng (knee) is a doubt, while striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and midfielder Marco Hoger (both knee) are unavailable, along with winger Jefferson Farfan (groin).
Dortmund are in superb form going into the contest, having lost just two of their last 14 games in all competitions.
Klopp is eager to atone for last year's defeats to Schalke, which he said hurt more than losing out to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
"When you sign a contract at Borussia Dortmund, the first thing you learn is that there are 32 Bundesliga games and two derbies," he said.
"The results last year hurt me the most. If we had played better, the results would have been better. Those defeats are the dark clouds over our last campaign, which, even without a title, was still pretty good otherwise."
Dortmund - who beat Arsenal 2-1 in the Champions League in midweek - will be boosted by the potential return of midfielder Sebastian Kehl, who is close to a return from a foot injury, but Ilkay Gundogan (back) and defender Lukas Piszczek (hip) are still out.

Inter Milan will be looking to overtake Hellas Verona in Serie A when the two sides meet on Saturday.
The visitors currently occupy fourth place in the table, while Inter sit one point behind in fifth.

Walter Mazzari's Inter, who have lost just one of their last six matches, were held to a dramatic 3-3 draw by Torino last Sunday.

Verona secured their third victory in succession when they beat Parma 3-2 last weekend.

Mazzari could bring Hugo Campagnaro back into the side after the defender missed the Torino match with a thigh injury.

Verona coach Andrea Mandorlini could name the same XI that beat Parma, with Luca Toni retaining his place up front. Rafael Marques is expected to replace the injured Vangelis Moras in defence.

Walter Mazzarri's side dropped points against Torino last weekend, the Turin club scoring a last-minute equaliser to earn a 3-3 draw, and are now winless in three matches having faltered after a promising start to the new campaignUnder normal circumstances, even that dip in form would not prevent them from starting as overwhelming favourites against a Verona side who were promoted as runners-up from Serie B last season, but Andrea Mandorlini's men continue to defy the pundits.

They moved into the top four by virtue of an enthralling 3-2 win over Parma last weekend, secured as Brazilian midfielder Jorginho - who has been linked with a move to Inter - netted his second of the game from the penalty spot two minutes from time.

Mandorlini's side have won five of their first eight Serie A games ahead of their first league meeting with Inter since 2002 and they will be searching for their fourth consecutive triumph on Saturday.

Inter won 3-0 the last time the two sides met in the league, but they will need to produce an improved defensive display to replicate that feat after shipping six goals in their last two outings.

Goalkeeper Samir Handanovic misses out for the hosts due to suspension, but attacking midfielder Ricky Alvarez should return to fitness in time.

However, defender Hugo Campagnaro is a doubt with a thigh problem, while Javier Zanetti (Achilles), Cristian Chivu (toe) and forward Diego Milito (thigh) are all unavailable.

Verona's injury problems are less severe, with only striker Daniele Ragatzu set to miss the trip to San Siro.

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is fit to face Real Madrid on Saturday after overcoming a thigh injury.

The MLS All-Star Game heads to the heartland Wednesday night when the league's all-stars take on A.S. Roma at Sporting Park in Kansas City. It marks the ninth time the MLS All-Star Game has featured a foreign club, with the MLS team winning five of the eight prior contests, including a 3-2 victory over Chelsea last season.

Roma are coming off of a sixth-place Serie A finish last season, but have bigger ambitions with a new stadium coming that they expect to change the finances of the club so they can move into the league's upper-echelon. This revolution at Roma has been pushed by their new American owners, who have made the club's exposure to the U.S. market a priority. It also helps that the club have an American -- maybe the best American -- in Michael Bradley.

There isn't much value in the All-Star Game. While MLS may point to wins as proof of MLS' growth, if someone needs an exhibition to prove to them the league's worth than they are already lost. For Roma, it is just another preseason match.

As is the case with many friendlies, there are plenty of goals and with no stakes, players have no problem getting ambitious. When viewed through the lens of entertainment and not sport, it becomes much more fun. And fun is what the All-Star Game is.

So far this preseason, the English club has already defeated the Indonesia Dream Team, Vietnam and Nagoya Grampus by a combined score of 17-2. The squad will look to keep that strong play going with a matchup against one of the top clubs in the J-League.

With less than a month remaining until the start of the Premier League, it will be important to fix any remaining problems before the matches start to count.

After scoring on a penalty shot against Nagoya Grampus in the last match, it would not be surprising to see Ryo Miyaichi get some more playing time in this one.

The Japanese native spent last season with Wigan Athletic on loan and is probably still a few years from being a regular contributor on the roster, but the 20-year-old winger shows plenty of potential with his play.

In yet another match against a Japanese opponent, Ryo should get a warm reception from the home crowd as he looks to make some more big plays for his club. If he does keep up the strong play, there could be more appearances ahead for the young player.

The Brazilian forward came over from fellow Japanese club Albirex Niigata a couple of years prior and  has continued to be a strong offensive force for the Reds.

Márcio Richardes has a knack for being in the right place at the right time in front of the net, and he is a strong finisher when he has a chance to score.

Arsenal better know where he is on the pitch at all times; otherwise, it will be tough to keep Urawa off the scoreboard.

Aston Villa

Christian Benteke and Gabriel Agbonlahor have scored 13 of Villa's last 18 goals. Agbonlahor's tally of six in seven games has taken him above Dwight Yorke as Villa's all-time Premier League goalscorer with 63.

Benteke needs two goals to become the first Villa player to score 20 in a league season since Peter Withe in the 1980-1981 title-winning campaign.

Chelsea

Chelsea have scored more headed goals (16) than any other team in the Premier League this season.

The Blues are second in the Premier League form table (W5, D2, L1) behind Arsenal. Villa are third (W5, D1, L2).

However, Chelsea have lost three of their last six games on their travels.
