Hull v Birmingham Npower Championship Preview 2nd March 2013
Hull's Paul McShane and Abdoulaye Faye could take up places on the bench after returning from injuries, while recent signing George Boyd is pushing for a full debut.
Team News:
Hull have no new injury concerns, new signing George Boyd is hoping to make his first start after the striker joined on loan from Peterborough.
The Tigers could be boosted by the return of defenders Abdoulaye Faye and Paul McShane after injury.
Birmingham will be without leading goalscorer Marlon King who has been ruled out with a knee injury.
Left-back Mitch Hancox is doubtful (thigh) but winger Shane Ferguson is available after joining on loan.
Steve Bruce welcomes his former club Birmingham City to the KC Stadium as Hull City look to strengthen their promotion credentials.
Paul McShane and Abdoulaye Faye both returned to training on Thursday and are in contention for a recall following last weekend’s thrashing at Bolton. George Boyd could also be in line for a start on what will be his home debut but Sone Aluko is out for the season.
Head-to-head
Hull are unbeaten in four Premier League and Championship matches against Birmingham, culminating in their highest scoring tussle in 27 years on 17 November.
The Tigers held off a spirited fightback from Birmingham at St Andrews to win 3-2, having been 3-0 up with the help of a brace from Sone Aluko.
Hull did the double over Birmingham in the first two seasons these clubs met in 1908-09 and 1909-10, but have not managed it since.
Hull City
Bolton's 4-1 home win last Saturday brought an end to Hull's three-match winning run and saw them drop out of the top two, but the Tigers are still targeting a fourth successive win at the KC Stadium.
The East Yorkshire club have kept an unmatched eight home Championship clean sheets.
Steve Bruce welcomes the club he managed between December 2001 and November 2007, during which time he won promotion to the Premier League twice, and suffered relegation from it once.
Birmingham City
Birmingham travel in search of successive victories, for the second time in seven Championship outings.
The Blues have not lost on their league travels in this calendar year (W2, D2).
