Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado admits had he been younger, he would have returned to Spain by now.

Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado admits had he been younger, he would have returned to Spain by now.
By Francisco Acedo
The 28-year-old joined Spurs in the summer for a then club-record fee of £28million.
However, he has struggled for form with just six league goals to his name and his winner against Cardiff at the weekend was his first from open play at White Hart Lane.
And Soldado has revealed that had his struggles occurred earlier in his career, it could have forced him to quit the Premier League.
"If all this had happened to me when I was 22, I would have probably returned home after a month, but I believe it is a positive experience for me, my family and for the education of my children," he told Radio Onda Cero.
"I am the only one responsible for my poor form, but I will get better.
"We have a great team and I am convinced we can have a good season."
He admits his winner against Cardiff was important for him, adding: "It was a much-needed goal for me and especially for my team-mates and the fans.
"Despite all the time I have gone without scoring a goal, the support they have given me has been incredible.
"Every time I touch the ball I feel there is great expectation and people are hoping for the best for me - I feel wanted here even though I haven't given them anything at the moment."

Swansea City will eye the visit of Fulham as an opportunity to arrest an eight-game winless run in the Barclays Premier League. That alarming dip in form has dropped Michael Laudrup's side to within three points of the relegation zone, having enjoyed an eight-point cushion in early December, when Fulham were 18th.
Rene Meulensteen's side have since climbed one place but the gap to Swansea is just two points and Fulham can go above their hosts for the first time since August with victory on Tuesday.
Away days have provided Fulham with little cheer this season, particularly since the 4-1 win at Crystal Palace in October. Fulham have played seven away matches in the top flight since that triumph, winning just one and conceding 22 goals in the process.
Swansea's recent home form will offer the visitors some cause for optimism, however, with Laudrup's men having lost their last three at the Liberty Stadium. The hosts may cite mitigating circumstances, though, having played Everton, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in that run.
November's meeting between the two had Swansea run out 2-1 winners, Jonjo Shelvey netting the winner in the last 10 minutes. Wilfried Bony was the Welsh club's hero in the FA Cup on Saturday as he came off the bench at half-time to score twice and secure a 2-1 triumph over Birmingham City. With six goals in his last six games, the Ivorian is likely to start against Fulham, but Laudrup has several injury concerns.

Shelvey (hamstring), Michu and Jose Canas (both ankle) are out, while midfielders Nathan Dyer (ankle) and Jonathan de Guzman (calf), as well as goalkeeper Michel Vorm (knee), could come into the reckoning.
The visitors, having made 11 changes in the 1-1 draw in the FA Cup against Sheffield United on Sunday, will be comparatively fresh, with Fernando Amorebieta (knee) and Matt Briggs (hernia) their only absentees.

Swansea City (from): Tremmel, Vorm, Zabret, Amat, Chico, Davies, Meade, Obeng, Rangel, Situ, Taylor, Tiendalli, Williams, Britton, Dyer, Pablo, Pozuelo, Richards, Routledge, Bony, Donnelly, Lamah, Lita, Vazquez.

Fulham (from): Etheridge, Stekelenburg, Stockdale, Hangeland, Hughes, Riether, Riise, Senderos, Boateng, Dejagah, Duff, Kacaniklic, Karagounis, Kasami, Parker, Richardson, Sidwell, Taarabt, Zverotic, Bent, Berbatov, Rodallega.

Sergio Aguero and Micah Richards are back in training but both are not yet ready for a first-team return.West Ham manager Sam Allardyce will put Roger Johnson straight into his squad after the defender signed on loan from Wolves for the rest of the season.
They are still without a host of injured players including Winston Reid and Andy Carroll, while captain Kevin Nolan is banned.
A trip to the Etihad is probably the last ground in English football that beleaguered West Ham manager Sam Allardyce would like his team to visit right now given his side's shocking run of form and appalling injury list.
The 5-0 defeat his shadow side suffered at the hands of Championship club Nottingham Forest at the weekend saw speculation increase that Allardyce was set to lose his job but in a letter to the club's supporters he received the backing, for now, from Hammers' co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan.
West Ham have never won the League Cup but the odds on them beating Manchester City over two legs of this semi-final are very long indeed. City are unstoppable at home and have scored an incredible 53 goals in 14 matches at the Etihad this season.
Allardyce will surely be hoping the best his injury-ravaged squad can do is limit the damage to give his side any hope in the second leg at Upton Park.

Head-to-head
Manchester City have met West Ham United once in the League Cup back in 1984, beating the Hammers 2-1 in a replay at Upton Park after a goalless draw at Maine Road.
City won the last meeting between the two clubs, away at Upton Park, 3-1 in October.
West Ham have won only once at the Etihad Stadium, beating City in an FA Cup quarter-final tie in 2006.
Both clubs were semi-finalists in 1964 and 2011, with West Ham losing to the eventual winners on both occasions.

Manchester City
City have twice won the League Cup, beating West Bromwich Albion in 1970 and Newcastle United in 1976 - and were losing finalists against Wolves in 1974.
Bosnia striker Edin Dzeko has scored in all three of City's ties so far this season.
None of City's League Cup scorers this season have been English.
Liverpool are the only side to beat Manchester City in a home semi-final tie in this competition - in 1981 and 2012.

West Ham United
West Ham have been losing finalists twice in League Cup history - versus West Bromwich Albion in 1966 and Liverpool in 1981.
The Hammers have scored nine goals in four League Cup ties, almost half the 19 goals they have scored in 20 league games.
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce led former club Bolton to the 2004 League Cup final where they lost to Middlesbrough.

Sunderland duo Adam Johnson and Fabio Borini are doubtful through illness, while John O'Shea has a shoulder problem and will also be assessed.Defender Wes Brown serves the final game of a three-match ban.Aston Villa will monitor the fitness of Christian Benteke (knee) and defender Ron Vlaar (calf) as they look to end a run of five games without a win. Vlaar's possible return would be timely as fellow centre-back Ciaran Clark serves a one-game ban.Though it is Sunderland who reside at the foot of the Premier League table there's a distinct feeling that it is they and not opponents Aston Villa who go into the new year with a great deal more to be positive about.
Unbeaten in their last four league games, three of which were away, Gus Poyet's side are exhibiting the qualities essential to mount a survival bid.
In addition, the psychological boost they received by knocking Chelsea out of the League Cup will have energised them still further and given them genuine belief that they have it within them to disprove the theory that the side at the bottom at Christmas is a virtual certainty to be playing Championship football next season. The visitors are in the midst of a miserable sequence of results; without a win in five, their draw with Swansea at the weekend ended a run of four straight defeats.
They were booed off by their disconsolate supporters, and may be relieved to playing away, where they've been far more effective throughout Paul Lambert's reign.
Another defeat at the Stadium of Light though and they will have allowed the hosts to move to within just three points of them. Like it or not, they'll be the side in the sights of the bottom three.
With fixtures against Arsenal and Liverpool looming straight after, they can ill-afford to begin 2014 by succumbing to the Black Cats.
It's also a clash of the side with the most red cards (Sunderland) against the one with the most yellows (Villa), and considering there have been four sending offs in the last six meetings, perhaps we should expect a feisty afternoon.
It all points to a fixture of both intensity and nervousness in equal measure.

Head-to-head
Aston Villa are unbeaten against Sunderland in their last five fixtures, scoring nine and conceding three (W2, D3).
The Black Cats have won four, drawn four and lost four of 12 Premier League home games against Villa.
Villa have the better overall record, with 78 wins to Sunderland's 54 in head-to-head fixtures.

Sunderland
Sunderland are currently on a four-match unbeaten run (W1, D3).
The Black Cats have failed to win any of their nine games against bottom-half opposition this season.
Two of Sunderland's three Premier League wins in 2013-14 have come at the Stadium of Light.
Four teams in the Premier League have scored more goals than Sunderland and Villa's combined total of 33 prior to the latest round of matches.
27% of Sunderland's goals have been scored in the opening 15 minutes, the highest proportion in the Premier League this season.

Aston Villa
Paul Lambert's side are without a win in their last five games.
If the Villans fail to win it will be their longest sequence without a league victory since an eight-game run between December 2012 and February 2013.
Villa have lost half as many games (3) away from home as they have at Villa Park (6).
Only Fulham (14) have conceded the first goal in a game more frequently than Aston Villa (12).
Aston Villa have scored just two goals in their last five matches.
Villa captain Ron Vlaar scored his first goal for the club against Sunderland in the 6-1 victory last April.

Team News:
Celtic will be without Scott Brown and Mikael Lustig for Sunday's Scottish Premier League clash with Dundee at Celtic Park. Brown has seen a specialist about his abductor problem and will discover on Monday if he requires surgery, while Lustig is out with a thigh injury.Greece striker Georgios Samaras is back after recovering from a hamstring injury but defender Charlie Mulgrew is a doubt with a glute problem.Dundee defender Davide Grassi is back in training ahead of the game but Sunday's game may come too soon following his recovery from a knee injury.Dundee are still without Stephen O'Donnell (knee), Mark Kerr (knee), Jamie McCluskey (Achilles) and Carl Finnigan (knee).

Neil Lennon is determined not to be affected by what he claims is the "overwhelming negativity" of Scottish football as his Celtic side surge towards the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title, with Dundee next up.
The Hoops are 19 points clear of Motherwell at the top of the standings and on course to clinch the championship next month.
However, aside from European nights during their exciting journey to the last-16 of the Champions League, in which they play Juventus in Turin next month trying to recover a 3-0 first-leg defeat, Celtic Park has rarely been full this season.
The absence of a league challenge from traditional rivals Rangers, now playing in the Irn-Bru Third Division, has had an effect on attendances and ahead of the visit of bottom side Dundee , Lennon was asked about the prospect of crowds dwindling further as the Hoops disappear over the SPL horizon.
