Wayne Rooney has travelled with the Manchester United squad and could figure against Swansea on Saturday.Michael Carrick (eye) and Javier Hernandez (thigh) are slight doubts for Manchester United and Rafael serves the final game of his three-match ban.Swansea midfielder Jonathan de Guzman is unavailable due to concussion. But Pablo Hernandez (groin) and Jonjo Shelvey (illness) are fit again, while Wilfried Bony should play despite a hefty travel schedule this week.
Team News:
Rooney completed 67 minutes of England's 3-2 victory over Scotland at on Wednesday.
With the exception of a 45-minute appearance in a behind-closed-doors practice game against Real Betis 10 days ago, the striker has not played for United in pre-season.
His appearance for England in midweek was his first meaningful run-out since he scored in England's 2-2 draw against Brazil on 2 June.
David Moyes hasn't had the most comfortable of starts to his career at Manchester United - friendly results were indifferent, a marquee signing has, so far, proved elusive and Wayne Rooney's associates seem intent on agitating for a transfer.
All those will seem but minor irritations if United should fare poorly in upcoming games against Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City, and before that there's the prospect of this tricky first-day trip to Swansea.
Moyes, though, will have unshakable belief in his own ability to take on the challenge, and rightly so. He commands respect and demands the best from those who work with him and I am convinced that he will not let United's standards slip.
Michael Laudrup will certainly recall Moyes' last competitive visit to south Wales - Swansea were lucky to lose only by three as they were comprehensively dismantled by Everton last September.
Such a battering is a rarity for Swansea and it was perhaps the best performance I saw from a Premier League side away from home all season. Both managers will have had a look at the DVD to remind of themselves of what went wrong and what went right as they try to get into each other's heads.
Moyes was back in south Wales on a watching brief for the first leg of Swansea's Europa League tie against Malmo a couple of weeks ago and he cannot fail to have been impressed by a 4-0 win and the combination of Michu and Wilfried Bony. Bony allows Michu to play in his preferred deeper role behind a striker, and both seem to be enjoying the partnership. Personally I wish Bony had signed for Newcastle, if only to read the headline "Ha'way Bony Lad", but you can't have everything.
As an occasion and as a match this should be memorable and whatever happens elsewhere on Saturday, expect this game to be the back page lead in your Sunday paper.
Head-to-head
Manchester United have taken 10 points from their four Premier League encounters against Swansea.
But United have only won once at Swansea in 10 meetings since 1932. That came in the Premier League in November 2011, a 1-0 victory.
The highest-scoring match between the clubs was a 5-1 Manchester United win at Old Trafford in December 1937.
Swansea
Swansea ended a run of six successive opening-day defeats with a 5-0 win at Queens Park Rangers last season.
Michu has scored in both of his two previous appearances against Manchester United. He also netted a Premier League-high six headed goals last season.
The Swans scored the first goal of the Premier League last season (Michu against QPR) and conceded its final goal (Emanuelson for Fulham).
Manchester United
The Red Devils had 20 different goal scorers in 2012-13, a record number in a single Premier League season.
United lost their opening Premier League match of last season, a 1-0 away defeat to Everton.
They hit the woodwork 24 times last season, more than any other side.
Manchester United came from behind to claim 29 points in the Premier League last season. Only Newcastle in 2001-02 (34) have claimed more from losing positions.
