Stoke boss Mark Hughes is without Glenn Whelan and Marc Wilson after they were both sent off against Newcastle.
Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is out for up to six weeks after breaking a finger.
With fixtures coming thick and fast over the holiday period it's the time of year when there have to be compromises in the official matchday programmes. At least one article purportedly from the manager or captain has to start with the words "printing deadlines mean I am writing this before our Christmas action gets underway."
Imagine the scene in the office at Tottenham, as staff earlier this month debated what articles they could commission for the home games against West Bromwich Albion and Stoke.
Ideas are flowing as to how they can fill two magazines, and I can exclusively reveal a few of the features planned back in early December for the Stoke issue, the last of 2013:
An in-depth interview with head coach Andre Villas-Boas, looking at the season so far, but printing deadlines mean it can only take in the campaign up to the Liverpool match.
The "Where Are They Now?" feature focusing on Emmanuel Adebayor, who hasn't been seen in a Spurs shirt for a while.
A behind-the-scenes piece with Tim Sherwood, as he outlines his plans for 2014 in his role as technical co-ordinator.
Obviously all these ideas had to be binned, but as you read the matchday programme this weekend spare a thought for the people who put them together. At least Tottenham have had time to change their plans for the content after an eventful month at White Hart Lane.
If you're thinking this hasn't got a great deal to do with the usual BBC-type preview of Tottenham against Stoke then you're right. But "family commitments and deadlines mean I am writing this before the Christmas action gets underway."

Head-to-head
Tottenham have only lost two of their last 38 home league meetings with Stoke City (W28, D8, L2).
The Potters have won just three of their 10 previous Premier League meetings with Spurs.

Tottenham
Tottenham's league record at White Hart Lane this season is the worst among sides in the top half of the table. They have won just three of their nine matches and scored only eight goals.
They have only managed to score more than one goal in two of their last 11 home games in the Premier League.
After seven clean sheets in their opening 10 league matches, they have not kept one in any of their last eight.
This game will take place exactly six years after Tottenham beat Reading 6-4, one of only six Premier League games to see 10 or more goals.

Stoke
Their defeat by Newcastle was only their second in nine league matches.
They have conceded 15 goals in their last five away matches.
Stoke have played 29 Premier League games in London and have scored more than once in only two of them (17 goals in total).

Bolton could hand a start to Mark Davies after the midfielder made his return in the defeat to Wigan, after ten months out with a knee injury. Goalkeeper Adam Bodgan and Joe Riley (both knee) are still out but Stuart Holden has returned to training. Charlton will be without Ben Hamer (ankle), Johnnie Jackson and Marvin Sordell for the trip to the Reebok.Jackson is suspended and Sordell is ineligible against his parent club....Bolton boss Dougie Freedman is flirting with the idea of starting Mark Davies in Saturday's Sky Bet Championship clash with Charlton at the Reebok Stadium.
The midfielder was given a huge ovation by the significant travelling contingent at Wigan last Sunday when he made his first appearance since February as a substitute in the final 10 minutes, and Freedman now believes he is ready to play from the first whistle following his knee injury.
United States international Stuart Holden has linked up with the squad again as part of the rehabilitation from his own knee injury, but he will not start training again properly until the new year.
A similar timescale has been given to goalkeeper Adam Bodgan while fellow knee-injury victim Joe Riley (knee) and Marc Tierney (foot) are also still absent.
Charlton, meanwhile, will be without Ben Hamer, Johnnie Jackson and Marvin Sordell.
Goalkeeper Hamer has yet to recover from the ankle injury he suffered last month so Ben Alnwick continues between the sticks.
Skipper Jackson is in the middle of a three-match ban after he was sent off at Yeovil a fortnight ago and striker Sordell is ineligible to play under the terms of his loan from the Reebok Stadium.
Leon Cort remains sidelined by a knee injury but fellow defender Chris Solly was an unused substitute against Derby last weekend following his knee problem and should be involved again.

Head To Head
Charlton have not won at Bolton since a Premier League victory there in August 2002. They have not won on any of their subsequent five visits.
Five of the last six meetings between the clubs have been won by the team playing at home.

Bolton won this fixture 2-0 last season, David Ngog scored twice in six minutes to seal the three points.

Bolton Wanderers
Bolton have lost three of their last four Championship matches including a 3-2 defeat at Wigan last Sunday.
Bolton have won only two of their 10 home matches played in the Championship so far - both wins coming in the last three home matches.
Bolton have lost all three home matches in which they have failed to score.

Charlton Athletic
Charlton have not won any of their last four matches and won just one of the last seven.
Only Watford are on a longer current winless run in the Championship.
Charlton have won only two of the 11 matches played away from the Valley in all competitions, winning at Blackburn and Birmingham, both by a 1-0 scoreline.
Charlton's total of 16 goals scored is the lowest in the Championship.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said: "It's a blow, but it's not something we can't manage. We have options. Hopefully I get it right."
Ryan Giggs missed Saturday's win over Norwich but Ferguson said the Welshman would play a part against Real.  Midfielder Giggs, 39, will reach 1,000 career games if he plays against the Spanish champions.
"He will be involved at some point, whether starting or on the bench I am not sure yet. His experience in these occasions will be vital to us," said Ferguson.

Jones, who can play in defence and midfield, will miss out after injuring his ankle in the FA Cup tie against Reading a fortnight ago.  Robin van Persie, Patrice Evra and Danny Welbeck all sustained minor knocks in the 4-0 win against Norwich but all three trained ahead of Real Madrid's visit.
Rio Ferdinand also appeared after recovering from the flu at the weekend.

The only player unavailable to Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is captain Iker Casillas. The goalkeeper trained with the Spanish champions at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium in the build-up to Tuesday's game but is not fit enough to feature after being out since January with a fractured left hand.
Former Manchester United attacker Cristiano Ronaldo, who is set to play at Old Trafford for the first time since his world record £80m transfer in 2009, should start along with Alvaro Arbeloa, Sami Khedira, Angel di Maria and Mesut Ozil after they were all rested for the 2-1 victory against Barcelona on Saturday.
